All of our vinyl membranes go through a process known as embossing. During manufacturing the vinyl is heated until soft and pressed against an engraving roller. The result is a permanent textured surface that leads to enhanced traction, even when the membrane is wet.
The sun can be extremely damaging exterior to building products. DEC-K-ING membranes are carefully manufactured with UV inhibitors. This ensures your vinyl deck won't crack and disintegrate after long exposure to the sun's harmful rays. The UV inhibitors also help prolong the look of your vinyl over many years.
The top layer of vinyl averages 28-30 mils (Roofseal) of thickness and is the first line of defence against water migration. DEC-K-ING is manufactured with the highest quality resins, stabilizers and plasticizers resulting in a stable waterproofing membrane. Our soft and pliable sheet vinyl easily flexes to go up walls, around corners and into PVC coated deck drains and scuppers making it easy to cover the critical areas where water migration often occurs.
Our woven polyester mesh contains anti-wicking properties. If the vinyl is damaged water will not migrate into the membrane and instead is pushed to the outside.
As the seasons and temperature change, a plywood deck will expand and contract. The DEC-K-ING multi-directional polyester mesh allows the vinyl to expand upwards of 115% while maintaining its form and bond to the substrate.
The DEC-K-ING woven polyester mesh produces a tensile strength of 278 lbs. This ensures your vinyl deck will never tear or be damaged due to rapidly changing temperatures and conditions.
The bottom layer of the DEC-K-ING membrane also averages 28-30 mils of thickness (Roofseal). The high quality PVC bottom layer serves a very important role in the DEC-K-ING waterproofing system. Many of DEC-K-ING'S accessories including drip edge flashing, drains and scuppers are coated with vinyl made at the same factory. This allows the bottom layer to easily fuse to the accessories instead of having to rely on glues or caulking. See the V-Kote Tek section for more info.
DEC-KING membranes meet both class A & C fire ratings making them a good choice in areas prone to fires.
During the manufacturing process salt and mildew inhibitors are added to the vinyl membrane. Installations near the ocean are completely safe as the salt will not break down the vinyl. In colder climates salt can be used to melt snow and ice on your sundeck or DEC-K-ING walkway.
